Mailboxes

On the other side of the bridge in Papa's back yard are mailboxes for the grandbabies. Sometimes they have mail in them and sometimes there are cool things like bouncy balls or stickers or other fun things. There's a green mailbox for Gibson, a purple mailbox for Haven and now there is a new red mailbox for Hannah.

We'll be adding a new blue mailbox in August!! Wow this is fun!

Beautiful Baby

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Adoption Party - Family Day

Last night was Hannah's adoption party. Christy and Daniel's friends brought finger foods and a cake. Christy's Uncle Randall, Aunt Em and Isaac came in from St. Louis for the party and Daniel's Brother, Matthew, and His family, Melanie, Will, Alex and Sophie, surprised everyone and came in from Huntsville, Alabama. I guess if you've just become part of a big family you might as well start meeting all of the cousins and Aunts and Uncles.

ADOPTION DAY!

Today was adoption day! It started early as relatives - two sets of grandparents from Tennessee, great-grandparents from Oklahoma and Hannah's mom and dad - met at Hannah's house. We drove downtown to the courthouse and Hannah's friend Maddie and her mom, Jennifer, met us there. We took pictures of all of us in the courtroom and then the judge came in. He read through some things and said it all looked good and then said some really cool stuff like she now has all the rights just like a child who had come from their bodies. and he also said she had the responsibilities of a natural born child. As Andrew would put it, that means she gets to pick their nursing home when they are old.
Here's a picture of the judge and Christy and Daniel and the star of the day, Hannah Rochelle DAVIS.

Photo Shoot

We have tried many times to go to Penny's or Sears or the Picture People place to get nice portraits made of Gibson and Haven. It always turns into a mini war zone with weeping and nashing of teeth - even before they had teeth. We would be thrilled if we had one picture of each without tears or bright red faces. and it usually cost about $5,000. So this year we decided to do our own photo shoot in Andrew and Haley's dining room. I think the pictures that we ended up with speak for themselves. (Actually, they are better off of Shutterfly where we cropped them, but I can't figure out, yet, how to get the Shutterfly pictures onto my blog.) Good-bye fancy portrait studios!

A Trip to the Zoo

at least that was the plan. Grani and Papa have a season pass to the Nashville zoo so grandbabies can visit. It is good for discounts at other zoos too. But the weather has not cooperated with us this week. So instead of playing at the zoo we played in the snow! It was beautiful and cold and fun!

Surfin' the Tubes

We had a great time surfin' the tubes at CEC. Haven wanted to follow Gibson but needed some company so Papa got to climb through the whole place.

Grani's Birthday

There isn't any place better to spend your birthday than at Chuck E Cheese's. So since today is Grani's birthday we naturally had to go there. And since it's Grani's birthday and since she hates to have her picture made, we aren't putting any of her pictures up here on this blog.

Jewelry

We made necklaces this afternoon out of Fruit Loops. Yum! Gibson ate more than he put on the string. Look how beautiful we are!

Early Easter Egg Hunt

We had lots of fun hunting eggs today. The hardest part was trying to get the grandbabies to not look or to hide their eyes or to go to another room so we could put the eggs out. It never happened, so we finally sent them out to feed the birds with mom and grani and papa ran around the living room as fast as they could hiding eggs.
Playdough Afternoon
The grandbaby tour took a creative turn Monday as we spent some after lunch time making some really cool stuff with playdough.

Bedtime on Sunday

How can you send such beautiful blue eyes to bed? Spend a few hours chasing them and you'll be tired emough!

Saturday in Oklahoma

Anyone remember this song? (Definitely from the flip side of a 45 of a much more popular song. If you don't know what a 45 is or what the flip side of one is then you missed some fun times in the 70s.)
"Saturday began just the same as other days, but ended up different in many ways. Love is in the air since Saturday."

We ended up in OKC on Saturday and grandbaby love was in the air! Here we are reading a book.

The Spring Grandbaby Tour

Grani and Papa's grandbaby tour began in Louisville. We wanted to be there when the news was phoned in that the lady who gave birth to Hannah has officially given up her parental rights. So... Hannah will always be our grandbaby! Now we just have to wait on some paperwork and those kinds of legal things and then (hopefully soon) we'll have a big adoption party.

I fixed the comments setting, so now everyone can tell me how beautiful my grandbabies are (not just those with a blog spot of their own).

Bamboo

We went to the Nashville zoo last October. The best pictures were in the bamboo. It was sooo much fun taking them!
